What happens if a business closes before I can redeem my "thank you" gift card?

Gift cards are required to be redeemable through at least August 31, 2020. Unfortunately, like all gift card purchases, there are no guarantees about the ability of a business to maintain its operations in the long or short-term. Our hope is that by directing resources and encouraging gift card sales in a program like this, the small businesses that make our neighborhoods vibrant year-round will be able to survive and thrive. Refunds will not be available through this program.

How will I receive my "thank you" gift card?

You will receive your gift card by mail or you may pick-up your gift card at a designated location.  Please select your preference on the submission form. Staff will confirm your eligibility prior to scheduling a pick-up or mailing your gift card.

When will I receive my "thank you" gift card?

Following verification of your purchase, your gift card will be processed and received by July 31st or earlier.

Upon receipt, if you have any questions regarding your gift card, please contact the business directly.

When can I redeem my "thank you" gift card?

Once received!  We recommend calling or emailing the individual business if you have any questions about redemption.  Also, please note: these gift cards are for the businesses themselves, and typically cannot be used on mobile ordering apps like UberEats, Door Dash, or Postmates.

Can I nominate a frontline worker to receive a gift card?

Yes! List the recipient's name and contact information, including information on their employment as a frontline worker on the online submission form. Please note City of Sugar Land employees are excluded from receiving gift cards from this program.

I'm a small-business owner in the City of Sugar Land. Can I participate?

At this time, we are only accepting businesses that sell a gift card or gift certificate.  However, please contact us with your interest in participating so we may update you if program rules change.

How does the match incentive work?

At launch, the Sweet Cash program is providing gift cards to the initial purchaser and a frontline worker based on the program’s matching matrix. For example, a consumer purchases a $100 gift card.  In return, the consumer will receive two $20 gift cards from participating businesses and two $20 gift cards will be given to front-line workers.

Are there fees to be involved?

No. This program is being run as a service to support small businesses. There are no participation fees.

How can I encourage sales of my gift cards?

Simple: spread the word! The matching incentive is only offered when customers make a verified gift card purchase from a Sugar Land business.  We encourage you to spread the word on social media by using the #AllInForSLTX and share the program web page link on your site.
