The City of Sugar Land’s Office of Economic Development is committed to working with its businesses as we all work through the COVID-19 pandemic together. This page will be updated regularly with information and resources for businesses throughout the City as they become available.

Winter Weather Event Recovery

The City of Sugar Land has created a Recovery Information and Resources Page to assist residents and businesses who may need assistance as a result of the Winter Weather Event in February of 2021.

Expanded Outside Dining Options For City of Sugar Land Restaurants

Sugar Land City Council passed Ordinance No. 2207 which temporarily suspends certain regulations applicable to the use of parking lots/spaces. 

Restaurant owners interested in temporarily offering outdoor seating in parking lots to maximize onsite dining capacity will need to make a request to the city by contacting Nicole Solis, at or by calling 281-275-2291.  Download the flyer below for full details.

Fort Bend County Childcare Resources

Due to COVID-19, individual school districts’ reopening plans for the 2020-2021 school year vary.  The Greater Houston Partnership (GHP) has published a new webpage summarizing each major independent school districts reopening plans and timelines.  GHP will update this data frequently and timestamp those updates as appropriate. To assist parents and employers make important decisions in the weeks and months ahead, Sugar Land Economic Development has also assembled various childcare and computer lab resources in and around Sugar Land.  Download a copy of the list below.

Visit Sugar Land Convention and Visitor Services  

In light of this decision the Visit Sugar Land Convention and Visitor Services (VSL) has taken the action to cross-promote all of your offerings available to the community from take-out to all other delivery services. It has become our objective to support all local businesses by continuously monitoring their social media channels to share collected updates on our platforms.  

We encourage you to update your social platforms regularly and tag us @VisitSugarLand if you’re offering curbside, gift card sales, take-out, or any kid-friendly kits to keep children entertained during this pandemic.
