The strength of our local economy is built on the foundation of our current corporate citizens.  The Office of Economic Development's Business Retention and Expansion  program recognizes the importance of existing businesses and focuses on engaging the business community in gathering important information that illustrates overall trends within the region.  Studies have shown that anywhere from 40 to 80% of new jobs come from existing business within a community.  The City of Sugar Land understands that the success of our existing businesses is imperative to the overall economic health of the City and can help in building on that success in the following ways:

We are dedicated to business and provide a project manager from our staff that will work on your project from inception to completion.  We provide management of local economic development incentives requests and the application process and coordinate between taxing entities, monitor regulatory matters.  In addition, our office has expert knowledge on infrastructure creation, capital improvement, GIS and database information services and collaborates on public policy with regional public partners.
