Sugarland Properties Incorporated, now called Planned Community Developers (PCD), is the developer of the 9,700-acre First Colony master-planned community in Sugar Land, Texas, southwest of Houston. In addition to community master planning and residential development, Planned Community Developers has recently completed more than 430,000 square feet of office and industrial buildings and 1.5 million square feet of neighborhood retail and power centers. “Sugar Land is an especially attractive choice for developing and relocating companies,” said Les Newton, President of Planned Community Developers. “It is the fastest growing city in the state of Texas. Its citizens are among the best educated in the country, and its economy is rising more rapidly that the ten strongest economies in the nation. It is obviously a choice spot for development. ” With these factors in mind, Planned Community Developers is developing Sugar Land Town Square, a project delivering a town square environment, complete with Sugar Land City Hall, with the life and synergy of a downtown business center and entertainment hub. Surrounded by more than 540,000 people with household incomes averaging $100,547, Town Square will offer upscale Main-Street shopping and a variety of dining options, from fine restaurants and trendy eateries to easygoing street cafés. It is also located in close proximity to the Sugar Land Airport, which caters especially to corporate and private aircraft, is an added luxury. “Because the Sugar Land Airport is the fourth-largest facility in the greater Houston area and the only major general aviation reliever airport in the area’s southwest quadrant, it is a great benefit and attribute of the community,” said Newton. “The Airport’s success in the corporate aviation market is the result of an ambitious capital improvements program that has resulted in the airport now accommodating the largest of the corporate-type business jet.” The City of Sugar Land and its leadership make this kind of growth possible with substantial investments in infrastructure, development, corporate life and community. “The City of Sugar Land and Fort Bend County offer beautiful planned communities, a well-educated work force, generous incentives and a business-friendly environment for relocating companies,” added Newton. “Modern yet traditional, Sugar Land is a modest metropolis, a growing city with the warmth and charm of a small town. Fort Bend is already among the top counties in the nation when it comes to growth, and I believe that Sugar Land is quickly becoming one of the most dynamic and commercially vibrant cities around.” |
